Carnival Cruises Beverage Program Update

Carnival’s New Alcohol package puts 15-drink daily cap

January 22, 2013 Carnival Cruise Lines announced a daily limit of 15 drinks into its single-price drinks package.
Right now on 13 Carnival ships, lets passengers pay for all beverages on a cruise in a single payment.
A Carnival  said the it recently “formalized” the limit on how many alcoholic drinks guests will be served within a 24-hour period running from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
The program is still in a trial period.
Sodas and most other non-alcoholic beverages remain unlimited and are not counted toward the 15 drink ceiling.

New Beverage Program on Royal Caribbean Ships

Royal Caribbean’s Sand Bar

It is now official. Royal Caribbean announced two new beverage programs to 13 of its ships  immediately that will allow guests to pay one price at the beginning of their cruise and then enjoy a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages  at no additional cost for the duration of their voyage. The two new beverage program options come in two sizes; Classic and  Premium. The Classic Beverage Package costs $45 per guest per day and the Premium Beverage Package costs $55 per guest per day. Both packages include  service charges. The Classic package features beer, house wines by the glass, all  non-alcoholic cocktails, fountain soda and juices. The all-inclusive Premium  package features the same as the Classic package and adds frozen drinks (like  Pina Coladas) and all cocktails including those made with premium brands like  Jack Daniels. A caveat: If one passenger in a cabin buys one of the packages, each additional passenger age 21 years and over in the same cabin also must buy the package — a rule presumably enacted to prevent cabin mates from sharing a package. Beverage packages are available for purchase on all seven-night or longer  sailings and must be purchased on the first day.  Packages are currently available on 13 Royal Caribbean ships and will be available on the remaining ships with seven-night  or longer itineraries by early 2013. TSA relaxes security screenings

TSA relaxes security screenings

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has relaxed airport security screening procedures for children and the elderly following widespread criticism.
The new policies allow children, aged 12 or younger, to go through airport security without taking off their shoes.
To minimize the need for pat-downs, children are now allowed to go through metal detectors and body scanners several times to clear any alarms.
Screening changes for passengers who are 75 years or older are similar to the screening process for children.
Elderly people will also be able to go through airport security without removing their shoes. They can also go through a security checkpoint without removing a light jacket.
To minimize pat-downs, the elderly will be able to go through the metal detector and body scanners several times to clear any alarms.
The TSA has also debuted a new program to help frequent travelers move through security checkpoints faster.
The program is called “TSA Pre” and is available in more than 30 US airports to frequent passengers of a limited number of airlines, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines.
Travelers who enroll in the program:

  • Do not need to take off their shoes and belts while going through security
  • Can keep their computers inside their bags
  • Can go through security without taking off a light jacket

To enroll in the “TSA Pre” program, visit GlobalEntry.gov.  The TSA has a hotline to answer questions about the security process for passengers with disabilities and medical issues. The toll-free number is 1 (855) 787-2227. The agency suggests calling 72 hours before traveling to allow enough time to make any changes before going through security.

Top Luxury Destinations & Key Trends 2013

The top destinations and other key trends for 2013, based on a survey of its luxury travel advisors. Among the findings: Myanmar, Bhutan and Chile debuted on the “most popular emerging destinations” list, and Cuba and Vietnam maintained their respective places among the top five emerging locations in the world.

As baby boomers continue to drive travel sales, and the desire to spend time with loved ones prominently factoring into decisions, the top and recurring trend for the upcoming year is multigenerational family travel. In addition, ocean cruising is predicted to have renewed strength in 2013, with the Baltic Region making debuting on the list, along with perennial favorites like Alaska, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. River cruising continues to grow, especially in Europe; and the addition of new routes throughout Asia will bolster its popularity in the coming year

Italy continues to top the list as a favorite international destination 2013, followed by South Africa, France and Australia. This year, Latin America emerges, with Argentina making the list for the first time. The biggest change from 2012 to 2013 is within the U.S. travel market. Napa Valley/Sonoma claim the top spot as the most sought after U.S. destination, bumping Maui and New York from these positions. While Las Vegas remains on the list, the city now shares fourth place with Alaska.

For families traveling in 2013, Italy remains at the top of the destination list, with Costa Rica moving up in popularity to join England. New to the list of top family destinations is Mexico, in fourth place. France, the Galapagos Islands and Turks & Caicos tie for fifth place. The most popular destinations for romantic travel continue to be Italy, French Polynesia, France, and Bali. This year, Fiji joins the list of exotic locations.

As in previous reports, the motivations behind high-end travel continue to be seeking authentic experiences in new destinations, rest and relaxation, personal enrichment, seeking adventure, and spending time or reconnecting with loved ones.

The 2013 Report also predicts that there will be a rise in longer trips (eight days and longer) to international destinations and suggests that, when necessary, travelers are willing to book lower room categories in order to stay in nicer hotels. Travel agents cont

Review and Testimonial Sandals Whitehouse Jamaica

Sandals Whitehouse Jamaica
by Julie & Erik Jablonski -Grand Rapids, Mi
Our Honeymoon November 4, 2012

Thank You Mitch at Island Cruises & Travel for arranging a perfect honeymoon at one of the most beautiful resorts Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica ( Here is our room with a view of the beautiful Caribbean and the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen. Room # 2405 in the Dutch building.) The view took our breath away.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at Sandals Whitehouse and we absolutely loved every minute of being there! What a breathtaking resort- from the beautifully manicured landscaping, to the pristine 2-mile beach and amazing pools, this is by far the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed at. The international flavor really added to the experience with the Italian, Dutch and French villages. The room you helped us get was amazing right on the beach.

Everything you told us in advance really helped especially all your recommendations and even the smallest details of what to expect. From recommending the YS Falls Zip Line Excursion where you zip line right through the waterfalls to recommending one of the best drinks – a BBC ( Bailey’s Bananas and Cream ) We kept the Swim Up Bars busy mixing those and all the liquor was top shelf brands never watered down. Another great drink – A dirty banana.

The food was amazing. We really enjoyed the eating the buffet breakfasts at Bayside outside with the beautiful Peacocks running around. Cafe De Paris was delicious with all their French pastries and gourmet coffee. The beach party at night was fun fun fun and all their pool games during the day in their beautiful pools were a laugh a minute. We can’t say enough about the beauty of the entire resort with every room having an ocean view, the gorgeous 2 mile protected beach and the mountains as a backdrop. It is a very secure and safe resort. We watched several weddings and they couldn’t be any more romantic especially the sunset weddings. WOW!

The price was amazing for such a clean 5+ Star newer resort and we would highly recommend this to anyone looking for one of the most romantic resorts in the world. As you told us the price is the same no matter where we would book because Sandals does not allow any discounting so having your free expertise 24/7 until we departed was worth its weight in gold. You made it worry and stress free.
We can’t wait to go back and we will recommend you to everyone we know. You are the best. Thanks Again, Julie & Erik.
